Trevor Nicolaides is a Utah native who has spent most of his life fly fishing the state’s iconic waters, including the well-known Blue Ribbon stretches of the Provo River. His fly fishing journey began at just 13 years old, when he gained national recognition after being published in Fly Fish America for developing a highly effective trout pattern. That early achievement led to a successful fly tying career, supplying patterns to shops across Wyoming and clients throughout the country under his brand, The Fly Ty Guys.
As a guide, Trevor brings more than two decades of fly fishing knowledge to the water. His foundation in fly tying provides a deep understanding of insect life, fish behavior, and matching patterns to local conditions. Trevor’s thoughtful and precise approach to the sport helps anglers improve their skills and confidence on the river. Whether you’re learning to read water, select the right fly, or perfect your drift, Trevor is committed to helping guests have a rewarding and educational day outdoors.
Trevor specializes in wade fishing techniques, offering guests an up-close connection to the river while teaching them how to move through current, position themselves effectively, and make the most of each cast. His calm and patient guidance helps anglers at all experience levels get more out of their time on the water. With a focus on technique, safety, and stewardship of the river, Trevor’s trips are designed to be both enjoyable and enriching.
Rather than using a traditional boat, Trevor’s trips are based around guided wade fishing along accessible and productive stretches of Utah’s rivers and mountain canyons. This allows for a more hands-on experience and creates more opportunities for learning, observation, and success. The gear is thoughtfully chosen for each outing, and the day’s location is selected based on season, water flow, and the needs of the guest. Whether targeting Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout, Brook Trout, or Mountain Whitefish, guests can expect a well-organized and professional outing led by someone who knows these waters inside and out.
